The River

Everywhere a stillness the city never new...

There's a river running between the trees
Light glances off ripples from the breeze
In the city people pass me, leaving tracks
I'm so full of them—can't find myself

Cool water under the trees
Hot sun, green leaves
Everywhere a stillness the city never new...

I go down to the river, kneel on the shore
Feel that sweet smoothness returning once more
The sun and the wind and the river are kind
Cooling and washing the city from my mind

Cool water under the breeze
Hot sun, green leaves
Everywhere a stillness the city never knew...

Cool water in the river under the hot sun

Everywhere...
